High Temperature Gasification
The high temperature gasification process is a unique process that provides an effective way of treating waste and recovering the useful energy contained in the organic material. The dried waste, now at a 10% - 20% humidity level, is continuously fed into the high temperature gasification chamber.It is then heated by using an energy efficient technology ,the waste is burnt in gasification chamber and the heat generated itself is used to carry out the entire process.This gasification chamber is manufactured out of a special metal alloy.
The waste is dried to 10-20% moisture after drying is shredded, this dried and shredded waste is transported via a feed system in the gasification chamber, which is operated in the absence of oxygen. Through the gasification process the dried waste is separated into two components.
1. High energy gas “syngas”
2. Inorganic, inert, non leach-able residue.
The “syngas” is then typically used to power an internal combustion motor/generator to generate electricity.
A portion of the electricity that is generated is used to operate the HELIOS MSW PLANTS system with the excess being used by the organization to offset external power consumption. Any additional electricity can be sold into the local power grid.
Syngas
The generated syngas is quite compatible to run gas generator set, the syngas from the reactor is transported through various gas scrubber and filters ,then passing the gas through De-Tarring unit. In the De-tarring unit the tar and other unwanted particles are filtered leaving pure gas to be transported to gas tank.
Electrical Generation
The Syngas gas generated through the process consists of an energy rich,clean gas similar to natural gas, which can be stored for later use. Due to the high energy content of this gas it is well suited to operate both internal combustion and gas turbine generators. In addition, in most cases where the in-feed material consists of waste material the resultant electrical generation is considered renewable energy generated with zero fuel cost. In fact in many cases the waste elimination cycle of the process also creates either cost savings or a revenue stream
